Welcome to the Apothecary

Welcome to the Apothecary: The Ritual of Everyday Things

There is something meaningful about the small things we do every day.

The candle we light when the house finally becomes quiet. The herbs steeping in a favorite cup. The familiar scent of lavender. A warm bath at the end of a long day. The few minutes we take to care for ourselves before moving on to everything else that needs our attention.

These moments may seem ordinary, but I believe they deserve our attention.

That belief is at the heart of Raven & Crow Apothecary.

Where Raven & Crow Began

Raven & Crow grew from my love of botanicals, traditional apothecary craft, old-world wisdom, and making things with my own hands.

I've always been fascinated by the relationship people have had with plants throughout history. Long before shelves were filled with mass-produced products, people worked with herbs, flowers, oils, waxes, salts, and other materials available to them.

They grew things. Gathered things. Dried, steeped, infused, blended, and preserved them.

There was knowledge in the process, but there was also intention.

That slower approach to creating is something I wanted to bring into Raven & Crow.

Made Slowly and with Intention

We live in a world where almost anything can arrive at our door tomorrow.

There is certainly convenience in that. But I think there is still a place for things made slowly.

At Raven & Crow, I am interested in the ingredients, the process, and the details.

Why this botanical?

Why this oil?

How does this ingredient behave in a formulation?

What traditions surround it?

How can I create something that is beautiful to look at, enjoyable to use, and worthy of becoming part of someone's daily routine?

Those questions are part of the making.

Small-batch craftsmanship allows me to remain connected to that process.

Ritual Doesn't Have to Be Complicated

When people hear the word ritual, they sometimes imagine something elaborate.

I see it differently.

A ritual can simply be an ordinary action performed with intention.

Lighting a candle before opening a book.

Preparing herbal tea and allowing yourself to sit while you drink it.

Taking a warm bath instead of rushing through another evening.

Massaging body butter into your hands before bed.

Opening the windows on the first warm day of spring.

Stepping outside to notice the moon.

None of these things needs to be perfect. You don't need special knowledge or an elaborate practice.

Sometimes ritual is simply deciding to be present for a moment you might otherwise rush through.

Rooted in Earth. Guided by the Moon.

Nature has its own rhythm.

Plants emerge, bloom, fade, and return. Seasons change. The moon waxes and wanes. There are periods of growth and periods of rest.

We aren't separate from those rhythms, even though modern life can make it easy to forget them.

Rooted in Earth. Guided by the Moon. is more than a phrase for Raven & Crow. It represents the way I want this apothecary to feel.

Grounded in the natural world.

Curious about traditional knowledge.

Respectful of the ingredients we use.

Aware of the seasons.

And willing to slow down enough to notice them.

More Than a Shop

I don't want Raven & Crow Apothecary to become simply another place filled with products.

I want it to be a place of discovery.

That's why I created The Apothecary Journal.

Here I'll share what I'm learning and creating along the way: botanical ingredient profiles, herbal traditions, behind-the-scenes looks at formulations, seasonal practices, candle care, simple rituals, and the stories behind Raven & Crow creations.

Some entries will be practical. Others will explore history, plants, craftsmanship, or the changing seasons.

My hope is that you'll leave each one knowing something you didn't know before—or perhaps simply looking at something familiar a little differently.

Welcome to Raven & Crow

If you've found your way here at the beginning, thank you.

Raven & Crow is being built one formulation, one label, one collection, and one idea at a time.

There is much more to come.

Until then, light the candle. Steep the herbs. Notice the moon.

And make a little room for ritual in the everyday.

Rooted in Earth. Guided by the Moon. Made with Intention.
